Yesterday, I received a number of calls regarding the Olinda Chapel and Tafadzwa Matinyarare issue. Several calls came from disgruntled service providers complaining that Olinda has not paid them and Tafadzwa, for months — and in some cases, for years. One of the calls was from Tafadzwa herself. It turns out that Tafadzwa is not AI generated but she exists and is actually my muzukuru (niece). So it was great meeting her.
According to Tafadzwa, she is a law graduate and has been working for Olinda’s Gains Healthcare as a PA, legal advisor, and compliance officer since 2023. Gains Healthcare is a company that recruits caregivers from Zimbabwe to the UK while the COS (Certificate of Sponsorship payments)are processed through the South African financial system, hence the business has offices there.
Nonetheless, Tafadzwa complains that she has not received her salary for several months despite handling the financial inflows of the business. She also states that Olinda’s business owes numerous employees and service providers to a point where they have been evicted from over six premises in South Africa for non-payment of rent. Due to being a signatory of the rental agreements, Tafadzwa says she has found herself being blacklisted in South Africa.
She flagged the non-payment and the damage to her reputation as some of the reasons she resigned, and clearly this did not sit well with Olinda. She further alleges that some of Olinda’s business practices — particularly between the UK and South Africa where COS payments are being made — bordered on money laundering, tax evasion, and fraud, which she [Tafadzwa] did not want to be part of. Apparently Olinda’s own son Sean Nkala has been arrested for fraud in the UK in relation to this.
Further claims of Olinda using drugs and trying to use Tafadzwa to acquire fraudulent prescriptions and the opiates for her from pharmacies and dealers, have also surfaced and reasons why their relationship has soured.
Additionally, Tafadzwa says Olinda owes her in excess of $20,000, which includes rentals for her house in South Africa, where Olinda is storing office furniture after being evicted from several business premises in that country. As a result of Tafadzwa resigning, Olinda had agreed to work on a payment plan for Tafadzwa and the South African team which she is said to owe another R82 000.
I asked Tafadzwa whether she took anything belonging to Olinda, and she said that she only took $300 petty cash in lieu of her outstanding salary which she required to care for her ill father, and a company laptop which she says she is willing to return in exchange for her long-outstanding salary. She also emphasizes that Olinda knows where she stays, plus she [Tafadzwa] is storing thousands of rands worth of Olinda’s company’s furniture in South Africa, thus she does not understand Olinda’s claim that she stole from her and does not know where she is.
Currently, Tafadzwa has opened a cyberbullying case against Olinda (case number RRB6756099). As many may know, part of the conditions for Olinda’s last case to be set aside was that she would not engage in further cyberbullying. I have reached out to Olinda in an effort to settle this matter amicably, but she has not responded. I am now narrating Tafadzwa’s side of the story on the same platform Olinda used to raise the issue, in order to salvage the reputation of my cousin and our family name, which Olinda sullied through her allegations.
