Dr. Zorodzai Maroveke Founder & C.E.O of the Zimbabwe Industrial Hemp Trust, the National Champion for the Development of Industrial Hemp is taking bold and final steps toward unlocking a multi-billion-dollar Industrial Hemp industry in Zimbabwe. She is currently constructing Zimbabweβs first ever prototype building using innovative Hemp based building material called HempCrete.
This Hempcrete creates breathable walls and absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and
becomes harder, almost rock-likeβover time. This breakthrough not only reduces emissions from traditional brick manufacturing and the cutting down of trees for kiln firing, but also strategically positions Zimbabwe to earn carbon credits through sustainable construction.
Hemp/cannabis has the potential to become a transformative industryβproducing not just buildings, but textiles, fuel, pharmaceuticals, packaging, clothing, and countless other products.
What makes this project even more impressive is that it is funded by venture capital from three leading local investors who run highly successful businesses. Itβs inspiring to see Zimbabweβs business community backing a Young Woman who is undeniably passionate and consistent in her vision to unlock value and the socio-economic and environmental impact of Industrial Hemp for Zimbabwe and beyond its boarders. Industrial Hemp is potentially a $5billion dollar industry for Zimbabwe alone.
