US Department of International Trade promote Zim as investment destination
US Department of International Trade promote Zim as investment destination

Since the removal of sanctions on Zimbabwe, the U.S. Department of International Trade has updated its economic outlook on Zimbabwe by:

  1. removing their travel warnings against the country,

  2. promoting the country as having great potential with very educated human capital,

  3. positioning the country as suitable for investment in agriculture, tourism, mining, technology, construction, etc.

This notice will definitely attract US and non-US investors, venture capitalists, travelers, and service providers to Zimbabwe.

These are some of the immediate benefits of the removal of sanctions on Zimbabwe. However, the question is, how are we Zimbabweans and our government gearing ourselves to further promote and harness this potential rise in interest in our country?

I have noticed Wodemaya’s videos and our videos on #TellingTheGoodZimbabweStory getting a lot more hits over the past few days, as tourists are clearly looking at Zimbabwe as a potential travel destination.

I don't think we are truly ready for what's coming because we are risk averse and we have a great systemic weakness that sees "investment as an externally instigated event rather than an internal structural way of life
